Winter Gym Openings are Still Available

Don't forget to sign up for our Winter Gym and the Lerner Clinics that are beginning soon. A great way to get started for the upcoming baseball season.

Welcome to the 2012 Season (yes, already)!

Welcome to the new site, new Player Development page, and pretty soon, the new season.

HMBR Player Development works throughout the season, and offseason, to help HMBR players improve their skills and understanding of the game while having fun. To do this we facilitate programs to help in the development of the player. The main programs are the Winter Gym and Dome, the Lerner Baseball Clinic and the NEW coaching clinic.

We have improved the player programs again this year to include two (2) sessions in a dome along with more hands on instruction from the High School coaches. Both changes make the HMBR offseason programs an even better value as we continue to provide low cost options to get ready for the season.

Player Development continues throughout the season as coaches work with their players. This year we will be offering a series of coaching clinics to give coaches additional tools to use during the season. These coaching clinics will be taught by Neil Lerner, his staff and a number of guest speakers. In addition, the Coaching Clinics will be open to all HMBR Parents! Learn more about the game so you can help your young player improve. As a parent, I can tell you the time spent working with your child is extremely rewarding and priceless.

 

The Start Dates: 

  • January 27th: Neal Lerner Baseball Clinics begins (Friday)
  • January 29th:  Winter Gym Begins (Sunday)

Babe Ruth Winter Gym and Dome

Winter Gym and Dome Information:

  • Open to all 13, 14, and 15 year olds (2011 league age, which is age as of 5/1/12).
  • Sessions will be led by HMBR travel and tournament coaches along with Pine Tar Academy featuring Matt Mosiman, Hopkins Junior Varsity Head Coach.
  • Sessions will be held at West Junior High, Lindbergh Center and the 10 Dome!
  • Cost: $80 (a GREAT value!!!!)
  • Registration is due by January 22, 2012 or until filled – First come, First served!!! (Registration limited to 55 participants)

The Winter Gym time is a great way to work on baseball skills, keep in baseball shape, have fun, and prepare for Babe Ruth tryouts.

Neil Lerner Baseball Clinics

Hopkins-Minnetonka Babe Ruth, serving the youth baseball community at the 7th-9th grade level in Hopkins School District 270, is proud to invite you to attend our annual Winter-Spring Lerner Baseball Clinics.  

Head Coach Neil Lerner and his Hopkins High School Coaching staff will once again lead this year’s clinic. Players will have the opportunity to work to improve their hitting fundamentals in one of the best baseball training facilities in the nation. The 6 automatic cages and 6 hitting tunnels will allow players to get many repetitions working on their swing. This is a great opportunity for players that Coach Lerner and his staff are excited about! 
 
Coach Lerner played baseball at Hopkins High School and then went on to play at St. Olaf. He has been an instructor at Lunch McKenzie’s Baseball USA for many years. Before becoming the Head Coach at Hopkins, Coach Lerner served as an assistant coach at Concordia University. Others will recognize Coach Lerner as a social studies teacher at Hopkins WJH. Coach Lerner’s staff includes Varsity assistants Kevin Strong and Pat Berger (Pitching), Head JV Coach Matt Mossiman and Head Sophomore Coach Jon Gallop.  HMBR travel and house league coaches will also assist.

Lerner Baseball Clinic Information:

  • Open to all 13, 14, and 15 year olds (2011 league age, which is age as of 5/1/12).
  • Sessions will be led by Hopkins Head Varsity Baseball Coach, Neil Lerner. He will be assisted by other Hopkins High School coaches and players!!!
  • Sessions will be held at Players Only and West Junior High.
  • Cost: $99 (another GREAT value!!!!)
  • Registration is due by January 22, 2012 or until filled – First come, First served!!! (Registration limited to 50 participants)
